The first performance of this specially-commissioned anthem "Where shall wisdom be found?" was at St. Paul's Cathedral in London at the start of "Founder's Day" [30th March 1995], when the whole of Loughborough Grammar School travelled down to London for the day - teachers, secretariat, ground staff etc. - to celebrate the Quincentenary.

Although the "official" Quincenterary Celebrations were in 1995, Her Majesty The Queen was unable to visit during that year.
Buckingham Palace therefore scheduled a visit for 28th June 1996, in order that she might officially open The Queen's Building - [Theatre and Drama Studio + English Department classrooms].

A top-spec digital Allen organ was hired for the occasion, in order that the performance could take place in the Drama Studio - a performance requested by Her Majesty, as she had recently bestowed Birthday Honours on Andrew Carter.

The recording was made the day before Her Majesty's visit, since recording was not allowed 'on the day'.

Joining The Boys' Choir by invitation were some singers representing the Girls' High School.

Anthem Text
Verses from Job : 28

Where shall wisdom be found?
And where is the place of understanding?
The depth saith : "It is not with me."
And the sea saith : It is not with me."
It cannot be gotten for gold,
neither can silver be weighed for the price thereof.
It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir,
in precious onyx, or in sapphire.
The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it,
coral and pearl cannot compare with it :
For the price of wisdom is above rubies.
Whence then cometh wisdom?
And where is the place of understanding?
God, God understandeth the way thereof;
And he knoweth the place thereof.
And unto man he said :
"Behold, the fear of the Lord : that is wisdom;
And to depart from evil is understanding."

HYMN : The Fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
Walk then in wisdom and mark well her way.
Seek her as silver and search out her treasures,
Thirst after truth and her calling obey;
Lord grant us wisdom, wisdom we pray.

O teach us to know imagination and insight,
Fire inspiration, invention, ideas;
Foster our talents and further our learning,
Spur on our spirits to reach for the spheres;
Open our eyes, Lord; open our ears.

O worship the Lord in understanding and wisdom,
Pray that our well springs of wisdom may flow;
Gen'rous of heart and more gen'rous in judgement,
May we in faithfulness flourish and grow;
Lord of all wisdom, let it be so!

Amen
